CANACONA: A domestic tourist, who was on his way to North Goa from Palolem with his female partner as pillion, strayed on the wrong lane at a blind curve at Khaddem eventually hitting head on with a KTC bus.
Sources said that both the rider and pillion were taken by an ambulance to taluka health centre at Balli with life threatening injuries.
Witness said that the accident occurred at about 6 pm on Tuesday. The rider of the scooter was totally out of his lane and it seemed that he was riding under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of the KTC bus proceeding to Kuske from Margao said that the head of the victim dashed against the wind shield, the impact was such that the glass got shattered.
“With no option, I literally stood on the break lever, otherwise it could have been disastrous to the rider and the pillion,” the driver said.
Other motorists passing by the accident spot vigorously complained to the police who were conducting scene panchanama of the rough riding by domestic tourists who take bikes on rent.
As the bus was the last to the remote village of Kuske at that time in Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Sudesh Narvekar PI of Canacona instructed his robot and other staff to look for the passengers who might have got stranded.
“On the safety and security point of view I instructed my staff to reach them to their destination,” Narvekar said.
