PONDA: Ponda police arrested a 33-year-old truck driver on charges of damaging government property at Shiroda on Monday night.
According to Ponda police head constable Vinod Salunke, the accused, Manoj Manwadkar, was proceeding in his truck towards Ponda when he dashed and damaged an electricity pole at Shiroda on Monday at about 9.30 pm.
Police said electrical wires snapped due to the collision, plunging Shiroda into darkness. The electricity department restored the power supply in the area on Tuesday.
Ponda police arrested Manwadkar for driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol under Section 279. The accused was also booked for damaging government property.
