PANJIM: Stating that Small Christian Communities are the powerful weapons to show concern and love towards others, Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrao appealed to the faithful to show concern and love towards others in our families, neighbourhood and at the workplace.
Archbishop Ferrao was delivering a homily at the Eucharistic celebration at the Carmelite Monastery Margao to mark 75 years of its foundation on the solemnity of St Joseph.
Highlighting the virtues of St Joseph, the Archbishop said St Joseph showed concern and care towards Mary and Jesus in different situations, thus becoming a caring person. Speaking about other virtues of St Joseph, he invited the faithful to take St Joseph as a model to deepen our faith in God. “Take inspiration from St Joseph and take any kind of work and attain holiness through work,” opined Archbishop Ferrao.
The friars who served the Monastery as superiors, Fr Jerome Braganza, Fr Joseph D’Souza, Fr Simon and Fr Anthony D’Cruz, who celebrated 40 years of their ordination and domestic staff were felicitated after the Eucharistic celebration.
Fr Sunil Rodrigues co-ordinated the liturgy, while Br Malvino Alfonso was the commentator. Archbishop Ferrao, Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Karnataka-Goa Province of the Discalced Carmelites, spoke on the occasion. Fr Anthony D’Souza, Superior, Carmelite Monastery Margao, proposed the vote of thanks.
