MARGAO: Fatorda police have handed over the two land-grabbing cases registered by them to the special investigation team (SIT).
Fatorda police had registered two cases of land grabbing in which 17 persons were accused of illegally transferring land in their names by forging documents or creating fraudulent documents.
In the first case, the Mamlatdar of Salcete taluka has filed an FIR against 16 individuals for allegedly getting mutation of 13 properties within the jurisdiction of Salcete taluka done in their name by submitting forged documents.
A second case has been registered by the Fatorda police acting on the complaint filed by Oswald Santana Samiro Rebello of Cuncolim who has accused one Agnelo Bedi Coutinho of Pairabandh in Cuncolim for allegedly forging power of attorney and selling the property of his mother to a third party.
The police had been awaiting clearance from Headquarters in Panjim to hand over the cases to SIT.
The investigating officer has informed that the cases have now been handed over to the SIT.
