PANJIM: The Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) is gearing up to crack down on restaurants and eateries run by foreign nationals along the beach belt of Goa without required permission.
FDA Minister Vishwajit Rane said that teams are already identifying such errant businesses. “A lot of foreigners are doing business along the coastal belt without FDA permission. These are especially in Arambol and Morjim. We are identifying them and ensuring these are closed,” the minister said.
He claimed that while entrepreneurs from Goa and other States running their eateries in Goa have been asked to follow rules and regulations, these should also be followed by foreign nationals.
“We have come to know that they are flourishing despite not possessing permissions. We will come down heavily on them and seek police protection to seal their premises. Safety is very important and all need to follow the law,” he said.
