BICHOLIM: Fear gripped the village of Sonarbhat, Ladfe in Latambarcem with the residents on Monday claiming that a wild cat on the prowl had killed around 10 cattle.
The residents fear they could be wild cat’s next victims. Cattle owner Babu Nana Varak from Sonarbhat, Ladfe in his complaint to the Forest Department stated that a wild cat has killed his eight cattle, including 8 cows and 2 calves, and claimed that he has suffered a loss of Rs 80,000.
He further claimed to have witnessed the incident a couple of days ago and feared that the wild cat could target the residents too as the cattle killed were from residential areas.
He said the State government should not hold him responsible in case of any harm caused to the wild cat as the residents are living in fear as there is every possibility that they could be wild cat’s next target.
Vasu Varak, Santosh Shinde, Sandeep Shinde and other locals have demanded that the Forest Department take preventive measures to safeguard the lives of the locals and cattle without any further delay and compensate the cattle owner at the earliest.
