PANJIM: Almost three years after Goa Staff Selection Commission came into force, the State Cabinet on Wednesday approved creation of posts for allocating staff to the commission, which is headed by IAS V Candavelou.
The Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019, came into force on September 18, 2019. In August, this year, the government amended the Act, whereby all departments were directed to complete recruitments for posts advertised before January 8, prior to the model code of conduct for the 2022 Assembly election, within a year.
Addressing mediapersons post the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that approval has been granted for creation of post in the Commission. He said that it was long pending.
The State has identified the old office of the Excise Department for the setting up of the permanent commission, but formal allotment is yet to be done.
The Commission has been formed to recruit group ‘C’ posts in all departments. The State govt has also started finalizing the regulations that will give clear picture as to who will conduct recruitment tests, who would set examination papers, who will be examiners, and how the allotment of selected candidates will be done, among other things.
