FIR to be filed against Bodgeshwar Zatra fair

146 stalls erected when only 75 were permitted

MAPUSA: The Deputy Collector and SDO Mapusa have directed the Bardez Mamlatdar to file a FIR at Mapusa Police Station for violation of the order issued pertaining to the Bodgeshwar Zatra fair, Mapusa.

On Tuesday, the Deputy Collector and SDO Mapusa issued a letter to Bardez Mamlatdar stating that in the order issued by Collector and District Magistrate North on January 19 “that only 75 stalls be allowed to be erected at the Zatra fair” has been violated and in this regards, FIR should be filed under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code at Mapusa Police Station. However in the order, it is not mentioned whether the FIR has to be filed against the Temple Committee.

Sources said that the Deputy Collector Bardez Kapil Phadte has ordered the Mamlatdar of Mapusa to initiate action against the President and Secretary of the Bodgeshwar Temple Committee for having violated the norms of holding the Zatra fair.

The North Collector had given permission to erect and allot only 75 stalls at the Bodgeshwar Zatra fair. However, it has come to the notice of the authorities that there are 146 stalls erected and allotted which is beyond the permissible number of 75.

The Mamlatdar has been ordered to take action under section 188 of CRPC and file an FIR against the violation at the Mapusa Police station.
