PANJIM: In all probability, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will be BJP’s face for the ensuing 2022 State Assembly elections. Party President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that the 2022 elections will be held under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
“Party and the government, both work hand in hand. There are no differences within the party over this,” he said.

Post then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s death in March 2019, the party had elevated Sawant to take over the reins of the State. The two-time MLA and former Speaker is the youngest Chief Minister of the State. The elections are due in February 2022 with all political parties gearing up to come to power.
Meanwhile, Tanavade said that the controversy surrounding the three linear projects will not affect BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
“The very fact that 80 per cent of the rural voters supported us in the just held Zilla Panchayat elections imply that politics is being done in the name of three projects does not affect our voters. Urban voters will also support us in the upcoming Municipal elections,” he added.
