CUTBONA: A fishing trawler work was murdered by his co-workers after a quarrel over a minor issue on Friday night at Cutbona jetty.
The victim is identified as Pratap Singh (34), a native of Chhattisgarh, while the accused are identified as Santos Bag (25) and Dhaneshwar Bag (26), both natives of Orissa. Cuncolim police arrested both the accused.
According to the Cuncolim police, the victim and the accused were working on a fishing boat at Cutbona jetty. On Friday night, after unloading the fish, all the crew had gone to the Cuncolim market leaving behind the victim and the accused.
Taking the opportunity, the accused and the victim had drinks and were chatting, which turned into a heated argument. Under the influence of alcohol one of the accused caught hold of Pratap Singh, while the other slit his throat with a sharp knife. After the killing, both the accused fled from the place.
When the Captain of the fishing trawler and other workers returned to the trawler at 11 pm they saw Pratap Singh in the pool of blood. They immediately called the police who arrested the accused at Sidhnagar in Cuncolim.
