In a shocking incident at Vagator Beach, a Toyota Fortuner belonging to a tourist from Gujarat was severely damaged after being washed over by seawater during high tide on Sunday.
According to sources, a private car caretaker driver had taken the vehicle onto the beach and was allegedly washing it when the sea suddenly surged due to rising tide levels. Within moments, powerful waves engulfed the SUV, submerging it partially and causing extensive damage due to saltwater exposure.
Personnel from Anjuna Police Station along with Tourist Police rushed to the scene and initiated necessary action. The driver responsible for the incident has been taken into custody for negligence.
The vehicle owner, reportedly a tourist, is yet to be informed about the mishap.
This incident has once again highlighted concerns over reckless handling of high-end tourist vehicles on Goa’s beaches, raising questions about safety, responsibility, and enforcement of coastal regulations.
