MARGAO: Singer Francis de Tuem has got ready for a legal battle and has dared Nuvem MLA Francisco (Mickky) Pacheco to challenge his song in court. Tiatr director Roseferns, in whose tiatr Francis sings the song, has said he would continue to perform the song.
Meanwhile, Adv Aires Rodrigues has decided to challenge the remission of the sentence of the MLA from Sada. Rodrigues has extended legal help to Francis and has decided to fight the defamation against the singer.
Francis justified his song and said, “All that I spoke is about the character ‘Mickky Mouse’. If MLA Mickky attacks me on that, then he admits it is him and the facts are right. The hooligans did not allow me to sing by sending goondas. Is this good behaviour? Families did not ever see goondagiri at tiatr.”
“Mickky had felicitated me and given me cash prize for the ‘Family Raj’ song I had sung, which was against Churchill Alemao. He had also felicitated me and given me cash prize in Kuwait for another such kantar. If I sing against his rivals he likes it and if it is against him he hates it. That shows his double standards.”
Roseferns said, “The kantar will go on, but goondagiri on stage, drunken attack by hooligans and dadagiri in ladies’ dressing room make me sad, as these things have never happened in 120 years of tiatr legacy.”
Asked whether they have approached the Tiatr Academy Goa, Roseferns said, “So far we have not approached the TAG, except to ask for solidarity to our problems.”
Rodrigues who has extended legal help to Francis said, “I hope Mickky has the courage and the stamina to take the defamation case ahead to a logical conclusion. However, Mickky must understand that he has to be open for a public scrutiny once he is a public leader. Mickky has opted for the wrong procedure to protect his interest and I am challenging the remission as it is illegal and is contrary to law and will leave it to the HC to decide.”
The Advocate said the Collector can’t ban the song without having a hearing of both the parties.
