PONDA: Locals feel that the Government is facing a fund crunch and due to which many government projects are on the slow burner.
Work undertaken during previous term of Government such as laying of the sewerage plant pipeline, laying network for Ponda, domestic gas laying line work and four lane widening of stretch of NH Bypass , work on Khandepar new bridge are progressing.
For e.g. in Ponda City, government had long back inaugurated traffic management plans worth Rs 150 crore at the hands of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in year 2013-14 but it is yet to take off. Development work plans inaugurated by PMC are also lying in abeyance. The plans such as construction of multilevel parking, foot ball stadium, underpass near Saint Annes Church, construction of Shastri building and mall inaugurated by PMC are halted due to lack of fund and not even foundation stone is laid for it even though plans for it were unveiled.
Ponda is facing parking problem and there is no solution it as well as on traffic congestion.
In last Assembly Session, the Health Minister has promised to visit Ponda Sub-district Hospital to look into grievances. That is still awaited. The Sub-district Hospital is facing shortage of doctors, and further there is a need of CT scan and orthopaedic surgeons to provide treatment to accident and emergency patient.
The work on Rest house of Animal Husbandry Department is pending for past eight years and incomplete. The Ponda Market Complex was inaugurated six year ago has not been fully operational as Vendors are reluctant to go there fearing no business in absence of customers.
And finally in mining belt at Usgao the locals are worried about their livelihood and panic prevails as mining grinds to a complete stop.
