CURCHOREM: Quepem Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kiran Poduval called the committee members of Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals from Curchorem, Canacona, Quepem and Sanguem in his chambers at Quepem and appraised them of the precautions they need to take during the Ganesh Chatruti festival.
DySP Poduval asked the Curchorem PI Somnath Mahajik, Canacona PI Sudesh Narvekar, Quepem PI Roy Pereira and Sanguem PI Sachin Narvekar to make all the security arrangements to ensure that the festival celebrated in a secure and peaceful atmosphere.
Handing over copy of the advisories issued by South Goa Superintendent of Police A K Gawas, DYSP Poduval directed the committee members to install adequate number of CCTV cameras with night vision facility to ensure that whole pandal area including surrounding areas are under surveillance. “Install door frame metal detector at the entrance and employ sufficient volunteers besides deploying security guards,” Poduval told the members and asked them to provide adequate lights in and around the pandals.
He also urged the residents under his jurisdiction not to leave any gold ornaments, cash and any other valuables in their houses during their visit to their native place. “Inform your neighbours and local police about their absence so that proper patrolling can be done,” Poduval said and requested the public to report to police if any person is suspiciously moving in their residential area.
According to Poduval 166 staff in the rank of HG/LHG, LPC, PC, HC, ASI PSI and PI in addition 50 staff of Central pool would be deployed from Saturday to ensure proper security and smooth celebration of the festival.
