GCCI backs app-based taxis in Goa

The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has strongly urged the State government and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take a strong stance on allowing all app-based taxis across the State including airports, railway stations and bus stands.

“This matter has been going on for years (rather decades) and it has to be resolved now, otherwise tourism in Goa will continue on a downward spiral and we cannot afford further setbacks,” GCCI stated.

“We urge our fellow Goan taxi drivers to get onto any app-based taxi as technology is the future, and they should not be left behind,” said Director General of GCCI Sanjay Amonkar.

The Chamber also urged all establishments to cooperate with all taxis equally – taxi stands and app-based taxis. These establishments should not succumb to pressure tactics and inconvenience guests who are visiting/staying in their establishments.
