Margao: Goans for Goa (GFG) has condemned the “shoddy investigation” done by the Crime Branch into the death of Fr Bismarque Dias, and the lethargic approach to the investigation so far, with almost 50 days since his sudden death. GFG has also demanded an independent investigation into the vest of Fr Bismarque.
GFG suspects that the CB, with the help of certain media, is moving in a textbook-like fashion to cover up the Fr Bismarque’s murder, by first revealing the negative viscera report, followed by the diatom report, with an aim to manipulate and influence the people that his death is indeed due to drowning and not a murder.
“How can some newspapers come to this conclusion? The diatom report only confirmed that the death of Fr Bismarque occurred at the site where he was found, and does not rule out foul play, as some media people are trying to lead us to believe. Their next step will be to conduct a lie-detector test on one of the boys, with the foregone conclusion that the boys are indeed telling the truth. We suspect that the CB will hold on to the DNA report of the vest till the very end, again with negative results, as a final nail in the coffin of Fr Bismarque,” said Kennedy Afonso.
GFG has questioned why the DNA report on the vest is taking a long time. It has demanded that a piece of the vest be given to Fr Bismarque’s family so that they could do an independent test. GFG has questioned why the family’s lawyer has not made such a demand till now, as this kind of delay gives ample time to destroy crucial evidence.
GFG has questioned why the CB is silent on the wet mud samples collected at the site where the vest was found. “When is this report forthcoming? How much time does it take to determine whether there is blood in the mud or not? A good pathologist can reveal that data within 24 hours, so why is the Crime Branch silent on this aspect,” said Afonso.
