PANJIM: The trail of accusations and defences continues over the formation of Goa government.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Girish Chodankar has asked Union Minister, and BJP’s Goa desk in-charge, Nitin Gadkari, to come clear on the directions given to the Governor over inviting the single largest party to form the government.
“Nitin Gadkari till date has not clearly stated what was the legal advice that Arun Jaitley gave to the Governor. Probably the legal advice and instructions to the Governor were that the single largest party should not be invited to form the govt,” he stated.
Gadkari, speaking to a news channel, had stated that the BJP worked hard through the night to form the government while the Congress slept.
Taking a jibe, Chodankar said, “I would request Nitin Gadkari to come clear and tell the nation what conspired after his landing in Goa. What came to Goa along with him from Mumbai?”
Questioning the motive of the EC’s decision to withdraw the notification regarding the RS seat election of Goa, Chodankar said, “It is a very serious lapse. Questions are being raised on the EC. The BJP government has started destroying the democratic institutions in the country which are very essential for a healthy democracy.”
