PANJIM: The Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (Goa-SEIAA) has directed the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) to furnish additional information with regards to the construction of tertiary cancer care centre in the existing premise at Bambolim.
The Authority has also decided to undertake a site visit before taking a decision with regards to grant of expansion of environmental clearance (EC) for the project.
The new construction is slated to come up on an area admeasuring 24,000 sq mters and the work is expected to be completed within 16-18 months.
The Goa-SEIAA during its meeting held on June 20 has asked GMC to furnish details regarding installation of solar panel, parking, fire assembly points apart from ensuring plantation of (indigenous/medical value plants) within or outside the campus premise in consultation with the Goa State Biodiversity Board.
State will be soon signing of a tripartite agreement with Centre and Mumbai-based Tata Memorial Centre to start an out-patient department (OPD) for cancer patients.
