PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) likely to finalise by next week, the methodology for tabulation of marks for Class X Board examinations 2021 based on the internal assessments conducted by the schools.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board examinations for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) were cancelled.

The general body meeting of the Goa Board held on Saturday deliberated on the policy for tabulation of marks for Class X based on internal assessment. The Board will be meeting again in the next week to decide the methodology to evaluate the students.
The sources informed that the policy for the tabulation of marks based on the internal assessment by the schools, is already in place and that the general body has to decide on the methodology. “We have to ensure realistic evaluation of academic performance of the students,” said the sources.
The sources said that it is going to be a challenging task before the schools as well as the Board.
As per the policy, the schools have to put in place a Result Committee, consisting of Principal and seven teachers, including two co-opted teachers from the neighbouring schools, for finalising the results.
The students will be assessed out of maximum 100 marks for each subject. As per the policy, 20 marks are for internal assessment and 80 marks are for year-end Board examinations. Since the schools have already submitted the 20 marks of internal assessment, the general body will decide on the methodology for assessing the 80 marks.
The schools carry out unit test, mid-yearly exams and preliminary examinations for Class X, before the public exams are scheduled.
Nearly 24,900 students were due to answer their Board exams, which were scheduled from May 13 onwards.
Meanwhile, the GBSHSE is contemplating to declare Class X Board exams result by mid-July and thereafter to conduct an entrance examination based on syllabus of Maths and Science for those students wanting to go for Science or Diploma programme in Class XI.
