PANJIM: The daily number of COVID-19 cases further dropped to 963 cases with positivity rate going slightly up from 21.16 per cent reported on Friday to 22.52 per cent, on Saturday. The daily cases have come below 1,000 for the first time since April 19, 2021.
The number of deaths continues to haunt as another 27 persons lost their lives to the virus in the last 24 hours. Of these, 17 died in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, seven at South Goa District Hospital and three persons died at private hospitals in South Goa.
The Directorate of Health Services has added that only four of the 27 patients had received one dose of the vaccine while the remaining had not taken vaccine dose.
Overall, the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic has now reached 2,597.
Meanwhile, 1,206 persons recovered from the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours of Saturday evening. The recovery rate is now at 88.57 per cent.
Out of 4,276 new samples were tested, 963 persons tested positive. This has taken the total Active cases to 15,056 while the State has reported an overall 1,54,419 cases till date. In the last 24 hours, has also recorded 847 persons under home isolation and 116 patients were hospitalised whereas 155 persons were discharged from the hospitals.
