PONDA: Goa Dairy Managing Director (MD) Dr Navso Sawant was suspended on Tuesday by an order issued by the Chairman Madhav Sahakari.
The charge of MD has now been handed over to the next immediate senior officer Dr Ajith Kosame.
On Monday, based on some video footage, Sahakari had alleged that Sawant caused a loss of Rs 8 crore to Goa Dairy.
The video footage came to light during an enquiry ordered by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies. The video footage was then handed over to Sahakari who issued the order suspending Sawant, pending inquiry into his involvement in the loss suffered by Goa Dairy.
During suspension, Sawant is directed to report to personal officer everyday during working hours.
Meanwhile, welcoming the suspension of Sawant, the inquiry committee President Dattaprasad Savordekar has demanded suspension of accountant of Goa Dairy. He said that since past few months, he had been demanding inquiry into whether Sawant and the accountant of Goa Dairy had any role in the Rs 8 crore loss suffered by the Dairy.
