PONDA: The Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd, popularly known as Goa Dairy will celebrate Golden Jubilee year from October 2, 2020 to October 2, 2021 with various programmes that will be held with the involvement of farmers, consumers and distributers, with the intention to connect with every member of the society.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will inaugurate the function which will be held at Sahakar Bhavan Hall, at Curti, at 3.30 pm, stated Dr Mahendra Bale, who is appointed as the chairman of 19-member Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee, during a press briefing in the presence of Nitin Colvekar.
Dr Bale said, “Following all COVID guidelines on October 2, the Milkoscan Machine that has been provided by Central government costing around Rs 85 lakh which is installed at Goa Dairy plant especially to check the quality and adulteration will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, farmers’ community, RCS, local sarpanch, and several government officials will attend the function.”
He said, “Farmers would be encouraged to increase their production providing essential information beside during entire year days like World Health Day, Consumer Day, Workers Day, Doctors Day, Teachers Day, Youth Day, Woman Day etc will be celebrated to connect the Goa Dairy with the people.”
Nitin Colvekar said, “The Goa Dairy milk processing started its operation at hands of former chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar on October 2, 1971 with the guidance of Dr Verghese Kurien and encouragement from then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri.
Dr Bale said, “From October 3 onwards Goa Dairy milk packets will be different, specially designed packets, having Milkoscan–FT1 as well as Golden Jubilee mark on it.”
Regarding Milkoscan-FT1 machine, Dr Bale said, “The Central Government after complaints by Parliamentary Committee expressing concern over 50 per cent milk production in India and milk product with respect to its quality and adulteration decided to supply Milkoscan machine testing machine to around 231 dairy plants having capacity to produce more than 30,000 litre milk per day out of total 331 dairy plants functioning in India.”
“Goa Dairy is one among them which got Rs 85 lakh worth quality testing machinery. This machine is having 80 kg weight and at a time 8 ml can be tested on it with per day having capacity of 1,200 sample testing. It has testing capacity of 15 milk parameters like fat, protein, lactose, total solids, SnF, freezing point depression, etc including adulteration,” he added.
