VASCO (HR): A passenger was duped of cash, gold and other items valued at Rs 1.17 lakh on the Goa Express train, after he accepted a biscuit from a fellow passenger and fell unconscious.
According to Vasco Railway Police, one Manoj Naik of Pune had boarded the Goa Express on June 15 from Pune to Margao to attend the engagement of his sister. As he was in wait list, he boarded in general compartment.
As the train reached Belgaum, some people boarded the general compartment and befriended Naik. They offered him a cream biscuit and Naik fell unconscious shortly thereafter.
Naik, who was supposed to alight at Margao, remained unconscious till the train made its final stop at the Vasco railway station on June 16 morning.
The Vasco Railway Police noticed him unconscious in the train and admitted him at the Chicalim Cottage Hospital.
Police said that the victim was robbed of five gold rings, one gold chain, one silver ring, two mobile phones, some cash and expensive sarees, all worth Rs 1.17 lakh.
After his discharge on Saturday, Naik lodged his complaint with the Vasco Railway Police.
