The Bombay High Court has come down heavily on the Communidade of Murda and the Village Panchayat of Merces for failing to initiate appropriate legal action against illegal structures in a mangrove area.
During the hearing, the court expressed concern over the inaction in addressing encroachments in ecologically sensitive zones. The matter has been adjourned to May 4, with directions issued to the panchayat to submit detailed information before the next hearing.
