Arolkar said the Board was committed to addressing encroachments in the area, revealing that inspections had been conducted twice, and local authorities, including the police and the construction department, have been informed. Despite notices issued, encroachments continue to appear on roads, and the authorities have been urged to take further action, he said.

The Goa Housing Board Chairman also clarified that once flats and land are sold by the Board, the properties cannot be resold for ten years. “After that period, reselling becomes permissible, but only under strict conditions,” he said.

The housing project in Ambaji-Fatorda will consist of 120 flats and 12 commercial spaces. 30 percent of the flats and plots will be reserved for Fatorda residents. The remaining units will be available to Goans who have lived in the State for at least 30 years.

Additionally, Arolkar mentioned that 3,000 square metres of open space has been transferred to the Margao Municipality. If there is a demand from the public, this space will be developed alongside the housing project.
