Goa Road Contractors Flag Tar Price Surge from ₹51,000 to ₹83,000, Halt Works Across State

The All Goa Road Contractors Association has raised serious concerns over the sharp increase in the cost of road construction materials, particularly tar, attributing the surge to ongoing global conflicts.

Addressing the media, the association revealed that the price of tar has escalated significantly from ₹51,000 per tonne to ₹83,000 per tonne, placing a heavy financial strain on contractors. As a result of the steep rise, several contractors have reportedly halted road construction works across the state.

The association has urged the government to compensate contractors by covering the difference caused by the price escalation. Members warned that unless immediate measures are taken to address their demands, the suspension of road works could continue, potentially impacting ongoing and future infrastructure projects in Goa.
