PANJIM: State of Goa ranks number one state in small state category in an annual award presented by India Today magazine. The state has achieved number one position in health and infrastructure sector whereas economy and inclusive development it remained on second position.
With environment, education, agriculture and e-governance at third place the state has overall achieved a number one position in small states category.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, while addressing reporters in Panjim, said that Goa has lowest infant mortality rate, highest number of doctors’ population ratio and highest bank population ratio with 95% of Goa’s population linked with tar road connectivity.
Except e-governance, Goa has retained or improved 2015 ranking in all categories.
While giving credit to his government, Parsekar said that the DDSSY scheme in health sector is a unique scheme in the country.
He said that Goa is become a brand as he has received an overwhelming response during the ceremony on Friday evening.
“We have successfully hosted Lusofonia Games, Exposition, Defence Expo and BRICS Summit in last three years. There is an ample scope for further excellence and there are many expectations from Goa,” Parsekar said.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and AYUSH Minister Sripad Naik congratulated BJP-led government under the able leadership of Laxmikant Parsekar.
Parsekar said that the two ministers from Goa had some hand in making Goa number one state as couple of projects they were able to deliver to the state being at the Centre.
