Goa has recorded a significant increase in State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) revenue despite an overall decline in GST collections during the latest assessment period.
According to official figures, Goa’s overall GST collections fell by around 8 per cent, declining from ₹582 crore during the corresponding period last year to ₹535 crore this year. However, SGST revenue registered robust growth, rising by 18 per cent from ₹192 crore to ₹226 crore.

The state also witnessed a substantial increase in the number of registered GST taxpayers. The taxpayer base expanded by 46 per cent, growing from 20,337 registered taxpayers to 29,664.
The rise in SGST collections and taxpayer registrations indicates improved tax compliance and a broader tax base within the state, even as overall GST receipts experienced a temporary decline.
Officials noted that the growth in registered taxpayers reflects increasing participation in the formal economy and could contribute to stronger revenue generation in the coming years.
The latest figures highlight a mixed revenue trend for Goa, with lower overall GST collections offset by stronger SGST performance and a significant expansion in the state’s GST taxpayer network.
