MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the State government of being all the time in festival mood using taxpayers’ money, but not having the time to look into issues of welfare of the common man. The AAP has written to the Chief Minister over the issues of Home Guards.
Addressing the media in the presence of retired Home Guard Vimal Shirodkar, AAP convener Elvis Gomes, citing the cases of nearly 1300 Home Guards, said that the government has failed to fulfill their just demands and has not bothered to find out how a person like Vimal is fending for herself post her retirement on attainment of age of 60 years.
“The prime of life of Home Guards like Vimal goes into rendering public service side by side with the Police department either in the Police Station or in the Traffic cells. However, Home Guards have been deprived of their dignity by not even allowing them a paid weekly off,” Gomes said.
Gomes described volunteer work or volunteering as the act of individuals working for or on behalf of others or for a certain cause without being paid for their services.
