“To meet increasing demand for housing, Goa Housing Board (GHB) has decided to make small plots of 150 sq mts with higher FAR,” told Nilkanth Halarnkar, Minister for Housing to Goa Assembly on Monday.
He was replying to a question tabled by St Cruz MLA, Victoria Fernandes who highlighted plight of common man, who, she said has not been able to buy housing due to soaring land prices in the State. She sought to know what the government was doing to provide affordable housing to common people.
Earlier, GHB made plots of 300 sq mts but considering increasing demand for housing, smaller plots of 150 sq mts will be made available, said the minister.
He further told the House the State Housing and habitat policy is under preparation. The policy will be prepared taking into consideration national policy and guidelines, he said. All the aspects will be considered and a State housing policy will be prepared in a transparent manner to do justice for all categories of people, he said while reacting to queries raised by the St Cruz MLA.
Model draft policies of Kerala, Karnataka and other States will be referred and studied, he added.
