PONDA: In a bid to create skilled manpower and to meet the requirement of industries in the State, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said the government plans to set up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Dharbandora.
Speaking as chief guest at Dharbandora at a function organized to distribute laptop to 164 students from two higher secondary schools in Dharbandora taluka under the Cyberage scheme, Parsekar said the government has already identified 250 industries which are in need of skilled manpower and has also identified the plots in different parts of the State where industries can be set up.
Referring to the Skilled India Concept initiated by the Union Government, Parsekar said through the skill development concept those who are not good in studies can earn more through his/her skills in various trades.
He said the Cyberage scheme is aimed at making every student conversant with IT and to improve their prospects for better living.
“Thrust has been accorded in distributing quality equipment to students to enable them excel in studies. The government has fixed a target to cover as many as 18,000 students from 93 different higher secondary schools in the State. Adequate budgetary provision has been made to provide better infrastructure facilities to the schools,” he added.
On the occasion, PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar sought cooperation of all those connected with education to bring in necessary changes in the education system. He advised the students to make best use of the laptops and impart knowledge to others which they have gained from laptops.
MLA and chairman of Infotech Corporation Subhash Faldesai, Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar and Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion.
