GPCC to focus on Gulf Goans

PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to form a special NRI (Non Resident Indians) Cell under the Convenership of Simon D’Silva, president of Goan Welfare Association, Doha Qatar. D’Silva is also the recipient of the prestigious Global Goans Community Leadership Award presented by the government of Goa.

According to GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro, he has been assigned with the immediate responsibility to conduct party membership drive by enrolling Goans residing abroad. He is to begin with the Gulf (GCC) countries like Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and United Arab Emirates.
There is a sizeable population of Goans residing abroad for employment, who contribute significantly to the State and national economy by enhancing foreign reserves. These Goans, though placed far away, are deeply concerned of Goa’s overall development and welfare and are always involved in the same through various programmes and activities.  
According to the GPCC press communiqué by spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar, it plans to expand the base of the NRI Cell and the Departments by giving representation to more Goans residing in various countries all over the world.
