MARGAO: The Goan Seamen Association of India’s protest against the government failure to restart pension of the retired seafarers and widows have gained momentum. The GSAI will protest at Cuncolim on Saturday.
GSAI President Frank Viegas said that the State government has still kept retired seafarers and their widows in the dark and their demands have gone on deaf ears for the last 12 months since October 2019 to restart the welfare pension scheme for the retired Seafarers and their widows.
The GSAI has been conducting and observing peaceful protests across Goa and hence on October 17, from 10.30 am until 12.30 pm will meet at the freedom fighters memorial near Cuncolim bus stand.
It has been over a year since the government stopped and never restarted their pension.
