MARGAO: No fresh cases of dengue have been reported in Mobor-Cavelossim area, even as the Director of Health Services has planned a major anti-larvae operation in the village on Monday.
Chinchinim Primary Health Centre, Dr Nixon Fernandes said that the health officials are closely monitoring the situation in Mobor after four patients were tested positive for dengue though no new cases of dengue have been reported from the area till date. “The health people are, however, alert and monitoring the situation. We have undertaken fogging operations and the drive will continue”, he said.
Since mosquito knows no boundaries, the Chinchinim Primary health team also visited the Cutbona fishing jetty on the other side of the river to take stock of the situation.
He said the DHS team will descend in Cavelossim on Monday to carry out anti-larvae operations on a larger scale to eliminate the infected mosquito.
“The dengue fever in Mobor is a wake up call for the villagers. No doubt, the health and other authorities are there to take up measures, but the residents should keep their compounds clean”, he said.
Replying to a question on the death of the woman as suspected by some residents, Dr Nixon said that it could not be confirmed that the woman had died of dengue. “But, at the same time, we are still testing samples in the village because we are sure that the virus was there in the village”, he added.
