CANACONA: Vehicular traffic was disrupted on Ambeaghat road for a while early Friday morning due to a landslide caused by heavy rainfall on the ghats in Gaondogrem, Canacona.
The fire and emergencies office at Canacona said that it received an emergency call at 10 on Friday morning of a landslide on the road on the slope of Ambeaghat in Gaondongrem village. They said it took them nearly three hours to clear the road of the heap of soil and boulders and open the road for vehicular traffic.
The work of clearing the debris from the landslide was hampered by heavy rains, huge trees and loose soil at the site. Supervised by Sub-officer M G S Lolienkar, leading fire fighter Tulshidas Desai along with fire fighters Ganesh Naik, Vivek Naik, Paresh Bhagat, Ashok Gaonkar and Sanjay Jadav clear the road for vehicular traffic. Since the landslide occurred on the steep slope close to a blind curve, the fire fighting team later cleared the slippery mud by using pressure water from the fire tender.
