Heavy showers bring respite to Canacona residents

CANACONA: Heavy downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning in most parts of Canacona Taluka on Monday evening brought respite to the residents from the scorching summer.

Chaudi, the administrative headquarters of the taluka and nearby areas witnessed heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning at around 8 p.m. Goa recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C at 5.30 p.m with 72 per cent relative humidity on Monday.

In view of the cloudy and hot and humid conditions in the State, India Meteorological Department had predicted light rain/thundershowers at isolated places on Monday.

Chaudi, Patnem, Palolem, Bhatpal, Sadolxem, Galgibaga and Loliem-Polem witnessed heavy downpour that lasted for around 10 minutes. A few stray incidents of trees getting uprooted were reported in the taluka.
