Hospicio staff refuses water to dying patient

Hospicio was once again in the news on Monday, again for bad reasons.
A relative of a dying patient alleged that a hospital servant refused to provide a glass of water to the patient before he breathed his last on Monday afternoon.
That’s not all. The son of the deceased alleged that the servant even told his sister to get water from the toilet block.
The incident occurred at around 1 pm, when the patient Babuso Pandurang Gaonkar undergoing treatment in the ICU asked his daughter for water. “Just before he breathed his last, my father asked for water. My sister, who was at the bed side, immediately requested a servant for water, which she refused,” Babuso’s son Gokuldas told newsmen.
He said his sister even pleaded with the servant to give water since their father was in a serious condition. “Instead, the servant told my sister to get water from the toilet and went away after closing the door,” Gokuldas claimed.
The serious episode was taken up with the Acting Hospicio Medical Superintendent, Dr Nasnodkar, who has promised to take action after a probe. “I have ordered an inquiry into the episode. We have to hear from both sides before commenting on the matter”, Nasnodkar said, adding that an inquiry into the episode will unearth the true facts.
“The inquiry will find out why the servant has refused to provide water to the dying patient. I will find out exactly what has happened this afternoon”, he added.
