PANJIM: Goans at large are appalled at the horrific ease with which the youth aged between 18 and 22 years were able to mislead, abduct and rape a girl from a bus stop and thought they would get away with it. Given the law and order situation in Goa, does it reflect the fact that criminals are no longer scared of the law. Goa ranks high in crime detection, but that is no consolation when the crime rate is so high and prevention of crime is the main issue, given the audaciousness with which crimes are committed.

Here is the horrific sequence of the abduction and rape of the innocent mentally challenged girl
The innocent victims came to the Margao bus stand after dark
She was befriended by the main accused Adil Algur, aged 18
After winning her confidence Adil Algur took the girl to Vasco in a Margao-Vasco KTC bus
Adil then made a call to his four other friends to come with a vehicle to Dabolim
Algur took the girl as pillion on a two wheeler from Vasco to Dabolim
The four other accused Mohammed Ali Mullaaged 22, Shahzad Shaikh aged 18, Viresh Aguanda aged 18, and Mohammed Shaikh aged 18 came to Dabolim in a Baleno car
All five took the mentally challenged girl to a Cansaulim guest house
Then they forcibly raped the girl in the guest house
Thereafter the shameless accused took the victims in the Baleno car and left her at Nuvem Junction early morning,
Police Station
Then the traumatised girl showed a hand signal to someone who then called up the police control room
The girl was picked up, brought to the police station, wherein she disclosed about this offense on her,
The police immediately formed teams SDPO, Margao, SDPO, Quepem, SDPO, Vasco and Police Inspectors of the respective police stations under the supervision of SP South Goa
Hats off to the SP South Goa Sunita Sawant and South Goa SDPOs, Police Inspectors and police for using the CCTV & digital mappings, and arresting the accused within a record time of two hours.
The accused have been remanded to 7 days police custody at Margao
