The Indian Air Force on Friday reaffirmed that it destroyed five Pakistani fighter jets during Operation Sindoor in May. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh made the statement days after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented misleading claims about India’s military operation at the UN.
Speaking during the 93rd Air Force Day celebrations, Singh said India targeted multiple Pakistani airfields and installations, damaging radars, command centres, hangars, and runways. “We have evidence of one C-130 aircraft and at least 4–5 fighter jets, most likely F-16s and JF-17s,” he added.
The IAF chief mocked Pakistan for its false claims of shooting down Indian jets, calling them “manohar kahaniyan” (fascinating tales). He highlighted that while India provided photographic evidence of the strikes, Pakistan has failed to produce any proof.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 following a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, successfully targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and POK, reportedly eliminating over 100 terrorists.
