MARGAO: In a bizarre twist to the fake birth certificate case, the accused Renuka Tahsildar withdrew her anticipatory bail application from the court. Meanwhile Shekhar Gaonkar, the arrested LDC of Margao Municipality, was suspended from his services late night on Tuesday after he was arrested on Monday.
The complaint of faking details to obtain government certification was filed against Renuka Tahsildar after Agostinho and Maria, the couple from Benaulim alleged that Renuka who was their tenant at their house made fake submissions and made them her parents.
The direct involvement of the LDC of MMC Shekhar was found recently after which Shekhar was arrested on Monday. He was granted bail on Tuesday by the JMFC court and resumed duty the same day. In an order issued late night by the MMC, Shekhar was suspended from his duties. Shekhar, the accused in the case, has been suspected of conniving with his Advocate wife to hatch the entire misappropriation.
