PANJIM: New applicants under Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS), will have to compulsorily produce Income Certificates issued by the village panchayats or municipalities. This has thus replaced the 12-year-old requirement of obtaining signature of an MLA on the certificate.
The recent amendment has been brought in on the lines of the flagship scheme of the Manohar Parrikar-government wherein signature of an MLA or MP on the form is not mandatory.
“Earlier, a legislator’s signature on the Income Certificate was required which was subsequently submitted along with other relevant documents to the Social Welfare department for availing the scheme. The present amendment mandates that the certificate will not be accepted if it is not issued by any competent authority,” said an official.
In case an applicant is unable to obtain the Income Certificate from a competent authority, the government has allowed the applicant to produce a self declaration of income on Rs 50 stamp paper which should be attested by a State gazetted officer according to the notification issued on October 24.
The other procedure such as submitting attested residential certificate, age proof, ration card and bank book, has been retained. In the case of a widow, additional documents such as marriage and death certificate of her husband; and for a disabled person, a disability certificate are mandatory.
