Infant found abandoned

A five-day old infant was found abandoned behind the bus stand at Cabo de Rama on Friday.
Wrapped in a bed sheet, the baby girl was found abandoned near the bus stand since the last 24 hours as evident by the fact that the infant had sustained some ant bites.
Upon receiving a complaint, the Cuncolim police took possession of the infant and first admitted her to the Balli Primary Health Centre from there she was rushed to Hospicio for further medical treatment.
Margao sub-divisional Police officer, DySP Umesh Gaonkar informed that they would refer the infant to Apna Ghar after her discharge. “It appears that the child was delivered at home and was abandoned just to conceal the birth,” he said.
The Cuncolim police have registered a case against unknown persons and investigations are on.
