MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has claimed that the State government is spending Rs 6 crore everyday on infrastructure development and has urged Goans to support it.
The chief minister in his speech at Margao said that even after spending Rs 6 crore on development and not considering the Central funds, he had a balance in excess of Rs 176 crores in June. The CM revealed the PWD had tendered work valued at Rs. 180 crores for the flyover to save the Navelim lake from being buried for the Western Bypass work.
Parrikar speaking about his government’s efforts to solve issues like garbage treatment, roads and infrastructure said, “It is not the Government that throws the garbage on the road and while everyone including us demand our rights it comes with duty and accountability.”
Parrikar said they planned to complete the Mandovi bridge in the present financial year. “The Cacoda Verna, Bainguinim, Saligao Garbage treatment plants are major steps towards making Goa garbage free by 2019. Rs 400 crore on sewage and garbage treatment infrastructure is big for Salcete and we promise the plant that comes up in Verna will not smell even 25 meters away from the building,” Parrikar said.
Taking a dig at the objections raised against the bioremediation on at Sonsodo, Parrikar said, “Someone is angry with the remediation we started at the Sonsodo dump. If you don’t want we will not.”
The chief minister revealed the Sonsodo plant would be tweaked to improve its operations and capacity.
