Interests of K’taka, Goa are that of BJP: Ravi

Party State executive Committee meeting to be held today

PANJIM: BJP’s Goa Desk in charge C T Ravi on Saturday said that Goa’s and Karnataka’s interests on Mhadei are collectively of the BJP, a statement that comes amidst the ongoing tension between the two neighbouring States over Mhadei water diversion.

“We will follow the Supreme Court’s judgment as far as the inter-state river dispute is concerned. We work for national interest and Goa and Karnataka are like two eyes. Interest of both the states is the interest of the party,” Ravi, also the legislator from Karnataka’s Chikkamanguluru said on his arrival in Goa, ahead of the State Executive Committee meeting scheduled on Sunday.

Ever since his appointment as Goa’s desk in-charge, Ravi has been ensuring that he makes balanced statements on the controversial issue, considering his connection with both states. “Both Goa and Karnataka are important for us,” he had said last year.

The Goa BJP has scheduled a day-long State Executive Committee meeting in the State capital on Sunday, which will be attended by Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Ravi.

Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to make a transit visit to Goa as he will leave for a rally in Maharashtra. Shah is also likely to meet Union Minister Shripad Naik who is recuperating at the GMC before flying back to Delhi via Goa.
