Intervention plea in Mickky case rejected

MARGAO: The South Goa Additional Sessions Judge P V Savaikar on Saturday dismissed the application of Advocate Aires Rodrigues to intervene in the petition filed by the government challenging the order of Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class issuing a warrant to search convicted legislatorFrancisco (Mickky) Pacheco at 10, Akbar Road.

After a demand by Rodrigues, JMFC Bosco Roberts had passed the order to search 10, Akbar Road which is the residence of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The arguments on the government’s petition challenging the order of JMFC will be heard on May 20. 
Meanwhile Pacheco’s application in the Supreme Court asking for more time to surrender will be heard on May 11.
Rodrigues had on April 22 argued and pushed for the search of  10, Akbar Road in Delhi and the JMFC had passed the orders to search for Pacheco at this address. The order had been challenged by the the government of Goa.
The public prosecutor argued that Rodrigues had no locus standi in the case and the search warrant was issued after his prayer to the JMFC.
The term of Pacheco’s arrest warrant is to end on May 5.
