The Indian national Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Goa has welcomed the Goa Budget 2010 presented by the chief minister Digambar kamat yesterday saying it is growth oriented and that it would give a boost to agriculture and social sectors.
INTUC Goa Working President Adv Ajitsingh Rane said the important highlights of the budget include creation of a new taluka named Dharbandora, medical insurance with a cover of Rs 60,000, allocation of constituency development fund to every MLA, and industrial incentive.
However, it has expressed reservation on proposal of water tariff and use of pubic private participation (PPP) mode for creation of infrastructure. Rane said that instead of thinking of hiking water charges, the government would do well to improve the water supply system and take measures to stop wastage of water. On PPP, he said the government should ensrue that the burden of creation of facilities doesn’t come on the aam admi.
