Four amendment bills and one bill seeking to set up Goa Commission for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (SC and STs) were passed by the Goa assembly on Friday.
The Goa Commission for SC ST Bill empowers the Commission with the powers of the Civil Court, it also empowers the government to provide funds to the commission by way of grants.
The Goa Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, 2010 which seeks to make offences under the Act cognizable and non-bailable for the preservation of certain animals suitable for milch, breeding, draught or agricultural purposes, was introduced on Tuesday.
The Administrative Tribunal (Amendment) Bill, 2010 which was passed today seeks to fix the maximum age of the president and additional president to hold the office of the administrative tribunal was introduced in the assembly.
The Goa Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2010 which will hold the members of the committee and board of directors of a Co-operative society responsible for the decision they take during the tenure was passed in the assembly today.
The Goa Municipalities (Amendment) Bill which was moved by Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao on Tuesday was passed by the Goa Assembly on Friday. It seeks to make provision for the use of electronic voting machine instead of ballot paper at an election to a municipal council.
