IPL 2026 Final: Will Rain Affect RCB vs GT Clash? Weather Forecast, Pitch Report And Reserve Day Rules Explained

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Gujarat Titans in the highly anticipated IPL 2026 final on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB lifted their maiden IPL trophy last season after defeating Punjab Kings at the same venue. The Bengaluru franchise will now look to retain the title and add another chapter to their success story.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans are chasing their second IPL crown. The franchise made a dream start to its IPL journey by winning the championship in its debut season in 2022 and will be eager to repeat that feat against RCB.

Will rain play a spoilsport?

With excitement building ahead of the summit clash, fans will also be keeping a close eye on the weather in Ahmedabad.

According to weather forecasts, rain is unlikely to impact the final, with only a minimal chance of precipitation during match hours. Conditions are expected to remain largely clear throughout the evening.

Daytime temperatures could touch 41°C before cooling down to around 30°C after sunset. Overall, the weather is expected to be favourable, raising hopes for a complete and uninterrupted contest between the two finalists.

Pitch report

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium is expected to provide excellent conditions for batting.

Traditionally, the red-soil surface at the venue offers good pace and bounce, allowing batters to play their strokes with confidence. Several high-scoring games have been witnessed here over the years, and another run-filled encounter could be on the cards in the final.

Fast bowlers may find some movement and assistance with the new ball during the initial overs. However, batting is likely to become easier as the match progresses. Captains winning the toss could prefer to bowl first, especially if dew is expected to influence conditions later in the evening.

What happens if IPL 2026 final is washed out?

Unlike the earlier playoff matches, including Qualifier 1, the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, the IPL final has been allotted a reserve day by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

If rain or any other interruption prevents the match from being completed on Sunday, play will resume on Monday, June 1, from the exact point at which it was stopped, including the same score and over count.

What happens if IPL 2026 final is washed out on Reserve Day as well?

If weather conditions prevent any result from being achieved even on the reserve day, the IPL title will be awarded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Under tournament regulations, the team that finished higher in the league-stage points table will be declared champions if the final cannot produce a result. Since RCB ended above Gujarat Titans in the standings, they would be crowned IPL 2026 champions in that scenario.
