The arrests are likely to solve several chain snatching and police impersonation cases reported at various police stations across Goa and the two adjoining states. Hours after Sael Khan Shabbir and Kallandar Hussain were brought to Goa on transit remand on Friday, Sawantwadi police collected details of the trio to ascertain their involvement in chain/bag snatching cases there.
The arrests of Shabbir and Hussain in Pune was sheer luck as the local police team was actually sent to arrest two chain snatchers involved in the St Inez case, whose identity was disclosed by Jaffery during custodial
interrogation.
