VALPOI: Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane’s panel won eight out of ten wards of Valpoi municipality, while the other two wards went to the BJP. The votes were counted at Forest Training School, Valpoi, under the supervision of Returning Officer Dasharath Gawas and the process ended at 10 am.
Anil Katkar won from Ward 1 by a margin of 250 votes, Ramdas Shirodkar from Ward 2 by 150 votes, Atul Datye from Ward 3 by 98 votes, Rashikant Chari from Ward 4 by 7 votes, Parveen Shaikh from Ward 5 by 150 votes, Parveen Sharafat Khan from Ward 6 by 65 votes, Sarfaraz Sayyad from Ward 7 by 150 votes, Akhtar Shah from Ward 8 by 7 votes, Anjali Chari from Ward 9 by 140 votes and Sahazin Shaikh from Ward 10 by 32 votes.
Talking about his victory, MLA Rane stated that Valpoi residents once again proved that they are satisfied with the development done during his reign as MLA. He added, “I will ensure that new council also plays a very important role in the developmental of Valpoi.”
